Multilingual Typesetting

[Due to current contract constraints Outside the Lines cannot provide localization services at this time.]

It’s called localization—taking print projects designed in one language and repurposing them for other languages and locales. We take your original documents, graphics and translations and re-typeset your designs in the target languages. This work requires several specialized skill sets:

  • Knowledge of text encoding technologies and the linguistic strengths and weaknesses of design software, from Quark to Illustrator to FrameMaker to InDesign and beyond
  • Knowledge of typographic practices and standards for the target languages
  • Experience in working with translators, reviewers and other service providers around the world to quality check and complete projects on time
  • Ability to respect the original design, while accomodating varying language conventions and expanding translation word counts

Our multilingual typesetting experience includes work with Korean, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish.
